This is a very confined space for high-speed cooking!
In about 1 hour and 20min, all the work resulted in lamb and apricot samosas, a massive salad platter, pickled carrots (surprisingly good), dill and cucumber yogurt dip, white bean and spinach dip, grilled sardines and courgettes – everything dripping in garlic and olive oil, with pita bread to wipe it all up. It was really tasty, and really fun to rush around the kitchen. Here’s the transcript of Allegra’s instructions:
The neighbours came round with their own dinner to share (lovely spicy prawn stew), and we devoured everything put out on the table.
It was great fun, but I think the next time I make these dishes (most of which I will do again!), I’m going to do so slowly to appreciate the fun!
luckily, we have a really long table for prep work
Yellow tomatoes, cucumbers and some centerpiece flowers for the click-along, basil and big tomatoes for lunch - all from our rooftop!
All the bits for the kick-off, minus sardines and corn, which are on their way home with the husband
With mint and chive flowers, as there's not much blooming out there at the moment!
Sardines and courgettes, ready for the grill
work station mess, laptop in prime position
Lamb and apricot filo parcels - surprisingly easy to make, so yummy
Spinach and white bean dip
The final platter, with dips in the middle. No corn (though husband tried 5 shops!) so the pickled carrots went in with the rest - they were great - I'd do that again
Sardines and courgettes, out of the grill
The destroyed feast - time for clean up!
