Neiman Marcus cookie recipe

21/01/2010

An urban myth that’s been making the rounds for over a decade, but regardless of it’s origins, it’s a damn good cookie.

(Recipe may be halved): 2 cups butter
4 cups flour
2 tsp. baking soda
2 cups granulated sugar
2 cups brown sugar
5 cups ground oatmeal (measure oatmeal and grind to a fine powder in a food processor or blender)
24 oz. chocolate chips
1 tsp. salt
1 8 oz. chocolate bar (grated or broken into small pieces)
4 eggs
2 tsp. baking powder
3 cups chopped nuts (your choice)
2 tsp. vanilla

Cream the butter and both sugars. Mix in the eggs and vanilla. Mix together flour, oatmeal, salt, baking powder, and soda, and add to butter and egg mix. Add chocolate chips, chocolate bar and nuts. Roll into balls and place two inches apart on a cookie sheet..Bake for 10 minutes at 375 degrees Fahrenheit (roughly 180 Celsius). Makes roughly 112 cookies, so halving the recipe may be a good idea.
